Quickly becoming the West Coast’s hip hop savior, recent Aftermath signee, Kendrick Lamar, has dropped a true summer anthem. Accompanied by the LA legend himself, Dr. Dre, the track “The Recipe” definitely cooks up enough bounce for the masses. Even though the addictive hook in part repeats the phrase “Women, Weed, & Weather”, the flow that’s delivered from the two “best” coast natives, elevates the playability of the song entirely. This track just might be the one that hurls Kendrick Lamar into mainstream madness. Check it.

Nicki Minaj: “Roman Holiday” Grammy Performance [video]

The new generation’s “Queen of Hip Hop”, none other than YMCMB‘s Nicki Minaj, killed last night’s Grammy performance. Takin’ a page out of Lady Gaga‘s book, Minaj debuted her uber-buzzed about track “Roman Holiday”, which definitely had a lot of theatrics, including dancing clergy and full body “levitation”. There’s no doubt that the track itself is super dope, due to its sick production, and of course Nicki’s charismatic flow…so we guess it’s all fair to admit that, from what we’ve heard over the past couple months, Minaj‘s upcoming release is definitely going to be a force to be reckoned with.

If you didn’t catch the performance last night, voila.

Not even a week old, and the newly born Blue Ivy Carter (B.I.C), already has her own feature on one of daddy Carter’s tracks…an honor just about any rapper would give their right arm for. “Glory”…which is clearly dedicated to the newest lady in his life…is just another look at how Jay-Z, who was once a “man of mystery” outside the booth, has now grown to be a little more transparent with his family life not only on the mic, but with the general public as well.

First Jay, and Kanye, released the track “New Day”, on their Watch The Throne collaboration album late last summer, which was them essentially talking to their unborn sons…and now, Jay has put together an extremely sentimental track, featuring his 3 day old daughter. Hova just might be human after all. Check it.

As it turns out, the fashion forward, as well as Harlem native, Teyana Taylor, will be putting out a solo project sometime in the near future. Featuring Maybach Music star, Wale, “Make Your Move” is said to be a leak off of Taylor’s upcoming EP, The Misunderstanding Of Teyana Taylor. The track on a whole is pretty dope…has a lot of funk and groove, and when matched with Teayana’s super smooth vocals, the song definitely sits well with us over here. Check it.

We’ve had the pleasure of seeing this Minnesota resident artist, Mod Sun, perform earlier this year at the Florida Music Festival in Orlando. Engulfing himself in a self promoted movement known as Hippy-Hop, Mod Sun’s music is definitely eccentric. His latest video, “Windows Down” is probably one of the most cool, and playful independent projects we’ve come across in a while…check it.

Known for his musical diversity, the Grand Hustle poster child, B.O.B, releases yet another track “Never Lost”, just a couple weeks after dropping he’s latest 15 song project, E.P.I.C: Every Play Is Crucial…this one featuring alternative rock favorite, Coldplay. Bossman, T.I, also makes a 16 bar appearance on the protegé’s record. All in all, “Never Lost” is a decent song…but we’re still on the fence as to if it should make the next album cut. What do you think??

He has definitely been the British leading man, when it comes to the hip hop genre.

As you may already know, MuzikGem.com has much love for LMFAO & J.Cole! It is definately well proven track by track when you listen to J.Cole why one would instantly cop anything he puts out there. In a time where radio only plays a certain sound and style of music we took it upon ourselves to find some “gems” within the Fayettenom’s greatests album drop “Cole World: The Sideline Story.”

What better of a song to introduce our listeners to from off of this album than the album titled song “Sideline Story.”

As the quote alludes to there were alot of dope punchlines sprinkled throughout this track. It highlights the ups and downs that artists go through while climbing the ladder towards success and also while being (as the world would think because you’re signed) “successful.”

We’ve had the pleasure to get our hands on Wale’s Ambition album before it drops tomorrow, and it’s more than worth the cop. The DC rapper has really spent these couple years molding his wordplay, flow and image…and as his surprising as his departure from Roc Nation was, it was definitely the best move he’s made.

“Slight Work”, featuring G.O.O.D Music’s own, Big Sean, is definitely one our favorites of this project…check it out here, then make sure to get the album which drops tomorrow, 11.1.11.

Drake: “Make Me Proud” feat. Nicki Minaj [music]

Well from since the last big collab between the two label mates (Up All Night) there’s been some pretty fly tracks out by both Drizzy and Nicki. On David Guetta’s “Nothing But The Beat” album, Nicki did a crossover track worth noting called “Turn me on” which as the song title says, did turn me on to her true diversity as an artist (#golfclap).

This cut is truly another banger and it looks like Nicki Minaj is now going to show the hip-hop world that she is not just a legit threat as an MC but also as a singer. I personally wouldn’t mind a duet with her and Chris Breezy or something along that nature.
